Many people walk into our office that have been struggling with chronic pain for years and they have been taking pain relievers daily, have had multiple steroid injections, and have tried just about everything with no help. Sometimes they have even opted for back surgery only to have the pain come back. Regular chiropractic care has been shown time and time again to decrease all types of pain from neck and back pain, headaches, sciatica, numbness and tingling, muscle cramps and more; however chiropractors work with the nervous and musculoskeletal systems and the healing process takes time. Chiropractors look for the root cause of a person’s pain and locate specific areas in these systems that are not working properly, remove any interference so that the body can begin the healing process. Many people have had many different types of injuries and trauma to the body, whether they are small or large that are left untreated. Injuries and traumas cause musculoskeletal imbalances in the body, of which our muscles, ligaments and spine have to compensate for. The body can compensate for these imbalances for many years with no pain, but pain is our body finally telling us that it has reached its maximum efforts and can no longer endure any more stress put on it. So when a person is in pain, it may be coming from an area in the body that was injured many years ago. The chiropractor’s job is to find areas in the body that are not functioning optimally due to past injuries, adjust specific areas in the spine to help the body initiate the healing process. Chiropractic is a drugless, natural approach that allows the body to heal the way it is intended to. Any positive and lasting change in the body takes time. Regular chiropractic care has been shown to improve a person’s quality of life and help them live pain free. I meet people wherever I go and sometimes when a person finds out I am a chiropractor they say, “I tried chiropractic once or twice and it did not work for me.” It amazes me every time, when I hear a person who has been living in pain for so many years, try something once or twice and give up so easily. Drugs and surgery do not cure the underlying issue that is going on in the body to cause the pain, only the body can heal itself when it is provided the correct tools. Chiropractic can provide those tools by freeing up areas in the body that are unbalanced and unable to heal properly. Chiropractic works, but it takes time and commitment for the body to heal and get better.
Healing Is A Process, Give It Time!
